this sem was all about job hunting.. applied to lots (read hundreds or maybe thousands ?) of positions.. did not think i would be giving so many interviews.. in fact i gave one, a day before the exam and have a few lined up in coming weeks..

A friend of mine in Asia was interning at a prestigious bank. It was recruiting season and his boss had stack of junior-level resumes several inches thick on his desk. The boss looked at my friend, then looked at the stack, then grabbed half of the stack randomly and threw the resumes straight into his garbage bin.

"Why did you do that? No one has even read those yet." My friend asked.

To this the boss replied:

"I don't want unlucky people working at my firm."

True story.

Earbuds

Got a new set of headphones with the gift card I won.. SONY fontopia MDR E 818 LP... The sound is good :) but the earbuds are a bit huge for my small ears :(

Occupation 101

Saw the award winning documentary "Occupation 101" yesterday. Anyone who is interested in knowing the root cause of Israel - Palestine conflict should watch it.. I didn't have any idea of the cause of conflict till yesterday but now I do.... 

Holidays

You know things are really going bad if you have to set an alarm to make it to a function at 2:00 pm.

Job search

I remember reading somewhere that in coming years man would try and reach Mars and that it would take somewhere around 1.5 years for the space shuttle to reach to Mars from Earth. The organizations [ISRO's NASA's] would soon start searching for a person to be aboard the shuttle. They believe that it would be a difficult job. 

My take: Finding someone who can live in a small space with nothing to do for around 1 year and remain sane ain't that easy. I have been doing my part to get the job :) Have been preparing real hard for the last month.. When the applications open up.. I am sure to apply...
